Many business opportunities in Burundi

Many business opportunities in Burundi
A delegation from Burundi led by Ambassador KN Jolobe, HE Ms, met with Que Naidoo, President of MCCI and various members of the Middelburg Chamber Executive.

Burundi has 6% of the world’s rare earth deposits and exports Arabica coffee. They are also looking at possible investments or partnerships with local businesses in tourism, internet connectivity, mining opportunities and agriculture. Burundi has 17 provinces and a different mineral has been found in each province.

The aim of the meeting was to establish contacts with local businesses that can network with Burundian businesses. Today, they have cut the red tape by introducing the ambassador directly to the Chamber of Commerce.

The next step is to organise a networking event between The East African Investment, Trade, Promotion Agency, the Burundi delegation and members to plan and explore the proposed trade delegation to Burundi.

Members are invited to send me their details to secure their invitation to the next Burundi investment event. Contact Anna-Marth Ott at ceo@middelburginfo.com.

Business Opportunities in the Gulf Region

Business Opportunities in the Gulf Region

Since June this year, the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) has met with the Association of Chambers of Commerce (ASAC) representatives to organise a meeting between the various ambassadors in the Gulf Region and ASAC members.

The ASAC comprises of Chambers of Commerce that issue most of the certificates of origin, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, East London, Pietermaritzburg and Middelburg. We are constantly looking for opportunities and building relationships with Trade Delegations, DIRCO and companies interested in export opportunities.

At the meeting, members were introduced to these countries’ various partnership and investment opportunities.  Such as building hospitals to various food security opportunities. There will be follow-up meetings with these ambassadors, and our members will be invited to attend.

Women in Power

Women in Power

On Thursday, the 19th of August, a few local businesswomen got together to inspire each other.

Nicci Gates, the speaker at the event, filled the ladies cups with a motivational and positive nugget for life.

The event was arranged by the new Highveld Business Forum Bu-Hi,  in association with the Middelburg Chamber of Commerce and industry.  As Anna Marth, the CEO of the MCCI said, “There has been a division between the two towns of Witbank and Middelburg, and it is time that, that changes”.

Business Highveld will be a virtual business forum focusing on businesses in the Emalahleni and Steve Tshwete areas. The forum will be for all business, big or small said Monica Joao local spokesperson for the forum.

“There was a  burning in my heart to bring something the Witbank Business Market that can benefit all. I admired the Middelburg Chamber efficiency and knew that to make this work. Together we will build a unified Highveld business sector and create something amazing for Witbank.  The new Business Forum called Bu-Hi (Business Highveld) will bring change in Networking and Business opportunities in the local areas, said Joao.

Another exciting add on is an Information Hub for Witbank. The Witbank Information Hub will be situated at Bietjie Kaap Coffee Bar under the management of Talitha Taljaard.  To find out more about the information Hub, you can contact Talitha Taljaard on 082 9215476.

For all businesses that are interested in getting involved in the Bu-Hi Forum or other opportunities to get involved, don’t hesitate to get in touch with Monica Joao on 083 633 3459 or monica@modomo.co.za

A Golf Day Spectacular

A Golf Day Spectacular

On Friday, 7 May, the MCCI hosted our 2021 Golf Day. All had great fun, and the day was a big success. We had a full field with our Tee Box sponsorships and teams that played.

Sports stars were all about as Fanie De Villiers came out to meet and greet the local schools’ cricket teams and entertain the golfers at prize-giving,

Pollen Ndlanya showed up for a fun game of golf with us, and many a golfer came to enjoy the day.

MCCI started this event to bring businessmen and women together, to network and market themselves. And this year has shown that it is a definite benefit to join us on this day.

With like-minded individuals sponsoring and joining in on the game, this is a fantastic way to meet new business individuals.

All sponsors get unique social media marketing and exposure to the MCCI Affiliations and the Middelburg Community.

And for the Golfers who just came to enjoy the day, there were numerous prizes to be won! A lucky draw and even a small auction.

From 1st to 10th was recognized with a few other categories: Nearest to the Pin, Longest Drive, and the most accurate drive of the day.

A new tradition was started with Sandra Lawrenson from MCCI doing live Facebook interviews with the Companies that

attended and sponsored—giving more and more value to the Companies and Sponsors involved.

A big Thank You to all our sponsors and teams, from CEO Anna Marth Ott and the MCCI Team.

May next year be even better!
