The Loskop To Olifants (LTO) meeting held on 6 October 2026 at Oregon Place Guesthouse brought tourism members together to discuss upcoming activities, current tourism matters and exciting opportunities for the Loskop Valley and Middelburg.
December Tourism Campaign
The upcoming December Tourism Campaign was one of the key topics discussed. Activities already being planned include We Wild Africa/Destiny Hotels, Daily Coffee Café and Frisbee Golf, with members encouraged to submit additional activities.
The campaign aims to showcase the variety of experiences available in the area and encourage both locals and visitors to explore what Loskop Valley has to offer. Activities should be confirmed by 23 October 2026 to allow sufficient time for advertising and promotion.
Strengthening Our Tourism Presence
The LTO tourism website continues to be updated monthly, with the new homepage now completed. Members were encouraged to review the website and provide feedback to ensure that the area and its tourism businesses are represented effectively.
The new Tourism Map was also discussed, with members encouraged to provide feedback that can assist with improving future editions.
New Ideas for Tourism
The LTO is also looking at ways to create new tourism experiences in the Loskop Valley. One exciting proposal is the development of an annual tourism event, with a cycling event currently being considered.
Members also discussed previous tourism events and attractions that could potentially be revived. These ideas could create new reasons for visitors to return to the area while providing opportunities for local businesses.
Looking Ahead
The LTO remains committed to working together to strengthen tourism in Middelburg and the Loskop Valley. Through collaboration, regular events and effective promotion, the area can attract more visitors, encourage longer stays and create greater opportunities for local tourism businesses.
