Members of the Middelburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) have spoken out about targeted criminal attacks on businesses. Attacks such as hijacking of trucks and their staff, kidnappings, thefts and murders. Is there a solution to make our town safe?
When you are organising an event and need to meet all the bodyguards’ requirements and it is not just for one person, but many, you know there is a problem. MCCI members are working on different strategies on what the business sector can do. Although we have members in the security sector, most of our members are in industry, services, mining and the general economy. What can we do as a collective to find a solution that works?
It’s not about getting in the way of the Community Policing Forum or the South African Police Service, it’s about supporting each other to ensure the safety and prosperity of our business community.
The MCCI has tried several times to set up such a system, but the momentum did not last and the projects failed. Do you have a solution? Members are invited to contact Anna-Marth Ott on 013 243 2253 or ceo@middelburgchamber.com to submit possible ideas.
