Loskop to Olifants Route Makes a Big Impact at Travel Indaba 2025
The Middelburg Information Centre proudly presented the Loskop to Olifants Route at Africa’s Travel Indaba 2025 in Durban, promoting it as Mpumalanga’s next major tourism destination.
The route stretches from Middelburg to Groblersdal and offers a mix of wildlife, culture and rural charm. Key attractions include the Loskop Dam Nature Reserve, Kranspoort Vakansie Dorp and Groblersdal’s Agri-tourism experiences. More than 35 meetings were held with international tour operators, which generated a great deal of interest in the route.
A highlight of the presentation was the long-term vision that the Loskop Nature Reserve will be transformed into a small “Kruger National Park” with the reintroduction of the “Big Five”. This initiative was well received by Ms. Makhosazane Masilela, the MEC for Economic Development and Tourism in Mpumalanga, during the productive discussions at the event.
With the strong support of local tourism businesses, provincial leadership and growing international enthusiasm, the Loskop to Olifants Route is well on its way to becoming a leading example of sustainable, inclusive tourism in Mpumalanga.
