
At the Mpumalanga Mining and Investment Summit hosted by the Mpumalanga Government, several organisations pledged investment. A summary of the pledges was presented at the Nkangala District Municipality’s District Development Model meeting held on 10 November 2025.
I have listed below the list that was presented:
Manganese Metal Company (Pty) Ltd – Metal to Crystal – Mbombela – R180 million
Seriti Green – Green Energy – Gert Sibande – R70 million
HDF Energy – Green Energy – Gert Sibande – R40 billion
EDF Power – Wind (Green Energy – Msukaligwa LM – R10 billion
EDF Power Solutions – Wind Energy – Amersfoort – R10 billion
Energy Green and Infinity Group – Solar Plants – eMalahleni LM – R4,3 billion
Eskom SOC – Expansion of transmission network and transformation capacity 620 transmission lines 3500 MVA transformation capacity – Gert Sibande and Nkangala – R13 billion
Eskom SOC – Research and development by pilot projects using coal ash – Road between Matla and Kriel Power Stations – And gravel to bitumen between Komati and Hendrina Power Stations – R300 Million
Eskom SOC Ltd – Repowering and repurposing seven power stations in Mpumalanga to provide additional capacity of 1 833 MW of electricity – Nkangala and Gert Sibande Districts – R32 billion

There are no investments recorded for the Steve Tshwete Municipal area, except for projects related to the Eskom Power Stations within our municipality. It seems to be a Just Energy Transition for me, but not for you. The business community must take its future into its own hands.
