Johannes Welgemoed, chair of the Tourism Portfolio Committee of the Middelburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, welcomed our members to the meeting on 19 November 2024. The members discussed the importance of our tourism route: Olifants’ to Loskop. 

The members said that although large events generate income, it is more important to develop regular events for product owners to ensure their sustainability throughout the year.  Members shared their busy and quiet times. Welgemoed also encouraged members to explore how they can support each other with member-to-member business, and he gave examples of MCCI’s successful matching programmes.  He encouraged members to offer special deals from MCCI members that they can offer to their visitors. 

The next meeting will take place in January/February and will focus on route development projects and events for 2025. Welgemoed reminded our members to support and participate in the MCCI calendar of events where you can showcase your business to the local community.
